Colleagues
At the time when i was participating very actively in Humanist Movement, Nailesh was more often observer of how me, Lokendra and others were involved. Nailesh happened to be my sister Vasanti and Priyakant Dalal's son.
Nailesh says, he saw the way we networked with strangers and known people in Humanist Movemnt to work together joyfully, actively and resolutely. He says, he was seeing similar situations of networking in the joint families he lived with. There they shared the relationships, avoid isolation and some, like his father Priyakant and mother Vasanti, chose to take responsibilities for maintaining, sustaining and continuing the harmony in midst of diversities and differences.
Vasanti, his mother, belonged to Latur where Nailesh saw another joint family with more or less same structural composition and relationships. In Latur he had another experience of joint family networking.
He was greatly influenced by the culture set up by his parents, more particulary by his father Priyakant, in honest and transperent living, in hard work and in sincerity. Money was not a particular problem.
However, when he began to live for sometime independent of his father, after his marriage, he was looking for a change. He saw models of better internal composition in Jayesh Shah , Parimal Merchant and me. That was inspiration for him to start to work with Jayesh, who guided him with lot of materials , directions and commitement.
Inspiration, enthusiaum and overflowing energy made Nailesh start several groups, sometimes groups in the morining and also in the evening with neighbours relatives amd friends. A particularity of Nailesh was that he had very friendly and homely relationships with his customers. As a result, he had his first three monthly sessional meeting with attendance of about 150 people. Jayesh was surprised at this gathering of people. Nailesh's motivation was doulbled. Then on a new stage started - he began to take responsibillity for the important tasks that Humanist Movement needed organizationally, financialy and administrately.
Influenced by the spread of the magazine, Humanscape , managed by Jayesh Shah, he was inspired to work sometimes 10 groups. He also started travelling to distant places like Gujrat, Orissa, Tamin Nadu, Rajasthan, Delhi for spreading the message. Eventually in Jharkhand he went, on invitation, alone as a stranger, and was instrumental in influencing and starting large groups. He found everywhere, to his surprise, that people understood him, Humanist Movement and its proposals easily as if they were their own aspirations.
Today Nailesh is basically the link and the bridge between the Humanist members all over India. Like his father, he is an expert organizer, generous in his approach and very resourceful. As far as his efforts in Humanist Movement are concerned, Nailesh is a workhorse, an achiever and essentially a connecting link at all levels. He is basically a passionate unifier of people.
Nailesh says he was influenced in his learnings from Jayesh, Parimal, Fernando, his wife Smruti and other family members. He says he learnt from me deeper aspects of Humanist subjects as i had grasped the essense of spirituality that various faiths propagated from my closeness with masters and the teachings of their faiths. He liked this aspects of having insights of the different dimensions of humanist doctrine.
Working with Nailesh for years together, as a team, has been very enriching, helpful and interactive. I feel nice always that it was my close relationship with his father Priyakant that somehow Nailesh found his way into the Humanist Movement.
Parimal Merchant and me met in the meetings of Community for Human Development around the year 1981. The group of The Community was then oriented by late Mr. Arvind Bhuta.
Over years, we both had long association of working together. The life was characterized by eventfulness. Constant learning was conducting thread. Experiential learning came about through joint activities and campaigns of Humanist Movement. And comprehensive learnings came from Meetings, seminars and retreats of humanist doctrinary materials. Both the learnings strengthened our convictions on how human life can become meaningful.
Parimal says what attracted and made him stay with The Community for Human Development was the light that these humanist studies threw on the internal world of human beings. They clarified the way out of maze, the complicated paths, of life. They emphasized the importance of being essentially non-violent in life. It amply clarified that the path of happiness invariably demands reconciliation, avoidance of contradictions in life and always to moving towards unity, not towards divisiveness. In a simple message, it said, "Good is what unites people, bad is what divides them. Good is what improves life, bad is what destroys it". As a result, he says, he experienced a distinct level of internal growth, as our association continued.
With Parimal, we worked in teams and also individually. What i found refreshing in him was his openness to ideas and his penchant for new points of view. He had a conviction that human beings learn more by stories and examples than by teachings. I found him bold, courageous, and willing to work together and learn. We developed together several methodologies, like Technology of Fulfillment of Action (TOFA) to explain the power of images. We created many stories, anecdotes, examples and ways of explanation that made our teachings illustrative. They helped People understand the humanist doctrine in its usefulness for life.
In Humanist Movement, Parimal is seen as a reference, as a man with refreshing outlook and as an orientor to bind people with convincing points of view.
Eventually Parimal joined, as a professor in S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Andheri. He rose there to top level of management. He showed his strength, through his very well attended lectures, the complexities and the potential of Family Managed Business. He did this not only at institute, but also on invitation to groups of several business communities which were traditionally run by family managed businesses. At the same time, he remained a very sought after consultant in several business houses.
Parimal says, throughout his teaching methods and explanations, what he was able to convey convincingly to people was the very essence of insights and wisdom he gained from his grasp of the Humanist Doctrine.
Rather than a scholarly man in his profession, Parimal is more known as a man of wisdom, conveying essence of what unites families and people, what reconciles, what makes conflicts among families disappear, what resolves contradictions and apparent oppositions among human beings. It was all encompassing teachings of the humanism that he was able to bring home to the hearts of the people.
Evolution of Life means Ascendance
Parimal understands that the essence of Silo's teachings, the conducting thread of human race, from time immemorial, is that human life is basically evolving from simplicity to complexity, from complication to clarity and from ignorance to enlightenment. Therefore the future of human being is towards ascendance, comprehension of meaning of life, leading towards a bright future. Therefore the purpose of human life lies in learning to overcome suffering and contribute to welfare of humanity, not in being narrowly centered just in one's own welfare. He says, he understood that a tree grows not only from the nourishment coming from its roots, but also from contributions of each and every leaf as well as its branches. In exactly same way, the Tree of Human Life also evolves by contributions made by every human being.
When asked, what and who contributed most in his life until today, he clarifies that Silo was a distant figure to influence him but Fernando carried the essence of Silo's message both in his teachings and behaviour to such an extent that his association influenced him most.
In the same breath, he appreciates his association with me, my work on images and on science of energy that i expounded, based on Silo's work and his methodologies. He mentions that my single mindedness in pursuing the purpose of Humanist Movement influenced him a lot.
Dr. Manu kothari
However he says that Dr. Shrikant of S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research had a towering influence on him. He saw in Dr. Shrikant, a unique combination of Gandhian upbringing and American education of management, while running an MBA college. Dr. Shrikant exemplified great values of life and deep commitment to a cause. Another man who influenced Parimal's life was Dr. Manu Kothari who carried profound dimension of life through being socially active, through reaching out to others unconditionally, bringing reconciliation through lightness of life, and through peace, force and joy.
Nailesh Dalal
Jayesh Shah
Among the colleagues, he says he was influenced by total commitment and devotion of Jayesh Shah in bringing order, organization and networking of NGO relationship in Humanist Movement and its organs. He also speaks highly of people like Nailesh Dalal who always reached out to people, brought in reconciliation and remained socially active, while remaining central to his extended family.
Towards the conclusion of our discussion, i asked Parimal to synthesize the present scenario wherein it has become trendy to look spiritual, to meditate for peace, to be liberated from stress of this birth etc.
He said there is a misguiding dimension of the present trend of spirituality. It is centered on marketing the benefits that one will receive for himself without contributing to welfare of others. It has a deep utilitarian aspect, a consumer like attitude towards the divine, of buying peace for oneself, getting Moksha for personal self, without reference to welfare of the humanity. Most important thing about this version of spirituality is that it is "I" who is in center. It is "My" peace and "My" own personal liberation which are central to this spirituality. All practices are finally contracted, narrowed down, to benefit one’s personal self. The others in the world are not in picture.
Against this, he says the purpose of human life is to selflessly reach out to others, to lose the "otherness" of the other. Your spirituality lies in accepting others, in improving them, whoever they are, without discrimination and without self-centeredness. Without this dimension, the so called spirituality is a form of regression, not of progression.
Years of association with Parimal Merchant has been learning, uplifting and enlightening experience. I owe a lot of gratitude to him in my life which is described in a wooden plaque i gave him years back. I reproduce it here as a memory.
I met Viren Shah in the year 1980, when he was working with Larsen and Toubro at Powai. Lot of water has flown down the Ganges since we met. I see him even today as an upright, principled and a disciplined man of action, innovation and outreach. To act with innovation and to create Humanist themes with creativity is Viren's strength.
Viren with Silo and Fernando
I worked with Viren as an orientor for sometime, as an associate for another period and as a colleague for quite a while to produce translations of Silo's books. During all this time i was constantly amazed at his quality of perseverance and follow up to complete the job that was taken on hand. It was this quality of creativity and perseverance in him that worked behind the industry that manufacture water park and playground equipments that he founded in 1985 in the name of Arihant Industrial Corporation Limited. (www.arihant.com)
When i asked him about what drives him to complete every job he undertakes, he told me "My father taught me that when we give 100% to any job we undertake, it is called committment. And when we do not complete what we commit to ourselves, it is self betrayal".
He says, "I am conscious to do what i say and i say what i can do." Viren's commitement to himself, to his family and to the humanist ideology he pursues is unconditional. For him, to be unconditional means, for example, "to smile to life, not if others smile, but to smile even if others do not smile." That stand of unconditionality in favour life gives meaning to the way we live.
I worked with Viren as an orientor for sometime, as an associate for another period and as a colleague to produce translations of Silo's books for quite a while. During all this time i was constantly amazed at his quality of perseverance and follow up to complete the job that was taken on hand.
Viren understood humanist way of thinking as if it is inherent to him. He says its principle of non-violence attracted him because it tallied with his Jain religion. He liked immensely the aspect of internal work proposed by Silo. That work clarified what is internal resistance in us - the force that does not allow us to except new proposals in life -, what is contradiction and what is the importance of coherence in thinking, feeling and acting. That further clarified the force of internal unity within, that allows one to work hand in hand with others in a co-operative world.
Typical Humanist Meeting
It was this clarity of his understanding that inspired him to constantly reach others to teach them the unitive way of life and to overcome what prevents the unity within us. Viren started functioning independently, forming his own group, just within 3 months. He had a passion for simplifying the complexity in Humanist teaching. Therefore he constantly made new materials with different points of view. To spread these simplified points of view, he unfailingly held weekly meetings, seminars and retreats in schools, in villages and at Flyover apartment in Andheri.
Kailash Mansarovar View
One major incident that showed his internal strength, clarity and an energy for not giving up things, was evident when his young elder daughter was swept away while she was at a sight seeing trip at Kailash Mansarover in August 1998. In those moments, I saw Viren extremely steady, persevering the search on internet and even visiting the Kailash Mansarover, trying his utmost for a rescue. He tells me that if it was not for Silo's teachings he imbibed, perhaps he would have collapsed under pressure. He says he feels immensly grateful for the internal strenghth that Silo's teachings gave him.
Viren says, during the period he faced above difficulty, he never lost hope. What helped him was Silo's message of reconciliation with life. I was witness to the way he stood during this tragedy. I can say that the true character of Viren showed the way he bore this suffering in his life.
Even today, when faced with difficult situations, he contemplates on "How can i make it possible and surpass?" invariably, he says he receives an answer.
Knowing viren has been a blessing a great learing and an immense pleasure.
I met Vipul in 1985. Around that period he was working as an engineer with Tata Consulting Engineers, Mumbai. I saw Vipul as a man of energy, receptive to new ideas. He was a man with an urge to understand whether there is "something" to life that gives human being a reason to live beyond survival.
Vipul is a householder married to Rekha. He has one daughter who has today become a doctor in physiotherapy and a son studying in 9th standard. Rekha herself worked for sometime for the Humanist Movement. For her daughter Isha, Vipul is a life's model who has put in tremendous contribution to what she is today. I attach this letter here as it is one of the ideal letters in which a daughter has expressed candid emotions and gratitude to her father.
To begin with, he joined Humanist Movement out of curiosity in 1986. However when he found selfless, well intentioned and earnestly active people in the humanist meetings, he felt that this was the kind of envirnoment he was looking for.
The initial introduction soon gave way to study of our internal world. The study of internal world, as explained in Silo's book, "The internal Landscape", describes that direction of life essentially consists of living with Internal Unity. One's Internal Unity gets disrupted when one lives a life of contradiction and conflict. Material progress in life is external. What really matters is internal progress. And internal progress is a process of moving from internal conflicts and contradictions towards unity with one ownself and others. Vipul says, that clarification he received during 1985 to 1987, when he was working with me, led to the discovery that meaning of life gets unfolded when there appears a purpose for living.
The ways to resolve the contradictions in life got unfolded for him when he attended the Center of Work in 1987. That clarification, together with constant work for the Humanist Party, the political wing of Humanist movement, increased his faith in understanding that working for survival is ofcourse a neccessity for life, but purpose of living lies in discovering what gives meaning to it. Vipul says, both the purpose and the meaning started unfolding when he began to experience what it means to work selflessly, without violence and in interest of helping others to discover their meaning of life.
Vipul emphasized during our discussion that when he stared his own group, stared printing monthly newsletters, preparing it by getting up at 5:30 in the morning and uniting people together for a cause beyond self interest, his self confidence tremendously increased. That confidence produced strength of conviction in him. That conviction produced energy and, above all, a spirit that fulfils his existence when he treats others in the way he himself wants to be treated.
Vipul particularly refered to the mention made by Silo in "The Internal Landscape" that activities of life are scaffholding for building our internal unity. He began to understand the practical aspect of transcendence in life when Silo said, "Love the reality that you build and not even death will detain your flight!".
He loved the image of human being by Silo in following words: "Namer of a thousand names, maker of meanings, transformer of the world...your parents and the parents of your parents continue in you. Yor are not a fallen meteor, but a brilliant comet that flies towards the skies. You are the meaning of the world and when you clarify your meaning you illuminate the earth. When you lose your meaning, the earth becomes darkened and the abyss opens." (The Internal Landscape)
It has been wonderful to be associated with Vipul for over 30 years. I have seen him when he entered Humanist Movement as a curious visitor. Today i see him as a committed man with conviction about direction of his life and his role in the world that surrounds him.
A meaningful letter from a daughter to her father
Isha Mody
Inspiration. Motivation. Achiever. A lot of people have a very formal bond with their fathers; they have mixed feelings of respect, love & fear. In a typical Indian household, there are boundaries, between a father & daughter, boundaries which restrict the relation they share. My story differs a little there.
Ascend and Add
My father has brought me up with minimal boundaries, allowing me to explore everything that I want to, allowing me to be everything that I want to, teaching me to be fearless, to not be held back. Growing up, my father would talk to me about living, ways of living, life, people, the mind & its psychology, science, history, English, everything. Long conversations with a little child who may have understood only half of what he spoke, who looked upon him like he was the world, like he had the answer to any question I could possibly ask, like he was the solution to any problem there could be, like he could protect me from any harm that was out there, I saw him as my Super dad.
As I entered my teens, & started to explore everything around me, I realized that maybe my father doesn’t have the answer to everything, he isn’t invincible, he isn’t the human encyclopedia that I thought he was.
He is a normal human being, just like everybody else, maybe with the same problems that are faced by everybody else. What a disappointment, huh? The person I thought of as a hero was just a regular person. Reality-struck-me failed to see the real hero in him.
The hero who built his life with his own bare hands, the hero who took me to every book fare & bought me as many books as I pleased, the hero who had once proudly carried me on his shoulders when I refused to walk, the hero who has worked hard to give me the life I have, the hero who never forgot through all of this, that he had to continue to be my encyclopedia, whether it was science or life or philosophy.
The hero who had guided me & allowed me to study whatever it is that I like, the hero who has found the time to motivate me when I needed motivation, to push me when I needed a push & let me be when I needed to be independent. The hero who has not once under-estimated me, when the world doubted my abilities, he made me see what I was & am capable of & inspired me to go seize all the opportunities that came my way.
He has taught me to be realistic, to be practical & see life as an opportunity to serve mankind. He has been there for me when I needed inspiration & his words have always inspired me to work harder than I think I can. Also, he has been there for me, understanding when I have failed.
He has been the friend I needed, the teacher who guided me, the idol who inspired me, letting me know that I can always talk to him freely & he’d never be too busy to hear me out.
He’s my hero.

"I tried the practice called E-Merge. It taught me to draw the energies from the earth in synchrony with movement of body, corrosponding to centres in the spine. I gradually connected activation of each centre while ascending from the Vital Centre at pelvis to my top centre at Crown.
I had heard about transcendence but this was the first time i experienced what it is feel an energy field that extends beyond and above the body limits..." read more...

Mechanical Engineer
Mrs. Chandra, working with Total along with me, Anish and Amit has had an interesting participation in the company's growth and development. Right from the day one of her joining us in 2006, i have had a cordial, participative and interactive dialogues with her. They were not only centered on business affairs but also on evolving personally from a narrow enclosed thinking to an expansive and inclusive outlook of life. I found Chandra was quite attentive, receptive and interested.
Milind Chorghe
Chandra had comparatively a chalenging life sketch. Her husband, Mr. Milind Chorghe suddenly died in 2006.She had a daughter, Chinmayee, born in 1997. Chandra has an inbuilt responsibility for her well being.
Chandra says, she had a history of previous jobs which were monotonous and routine. It was in Total Tools that she discovered how one's potential is released when responsibilities are given and fulfilled, how facing chanllenges in life gives way to one's evolution and how looking forward to an upward looking life everyday fills one with hope, joy and meaning.
In her own words, Chandra says, she felt release of stress when i told her that she is in a good company and can look forward to an assured future. I used to talk to her occasionly about humanist approach to life. But it was introduction of Parimal Merchant in our office, where he used to hold humanist weekly meetings, she got a completly new perspective about human life, its potential and meaning. She was a regular participant in Humanist meetings and i have seen a steady growth in her involvement, understanding and perceptive abilities regarding the future of a co-operative common social objective.
In a recorded interview with her, Chandra says that she learnt in our meetings about what an openess of envirnoment does to life. In a era of continuously knowledge pouring atmosphere, it is vital to understand that one has freedom "not to know", what he need not know. Working together for a common objective, without self interest, to better this world lends substance to life. To create a mutually appreciative ambit in working acknowledges contribution of others in life.
Chandra with her Mentee
Chandra with her Mentee from Mentor Me
Following the inspiration she received from the Humanist envirnoment, outlook and training, Chandra thought of being a volunteer with Mentor Me India, a Non-Profit Mentoring Organization. Mentor Me works with a mission to empower children in low-income communities by providing them with strong role-models, recruited through a careful process. They currently support over 300 mentoring relationships, across 12 locations in Mumbai, India.
Chandra says that Mentor Me ideology has a Humanist outlook. It makes people believe in themselvs. For them little things make big change. They believe in learning from the Mentor and the Mentee and channelize the energy for a change.
Today, she says, she clearly knows, "When we are born or die or were not born at all does not make a difference to the world we live in, life has no meaning. Meaning of life emerges when we learn to make difference to the envirnoment we are surrounded by through our actions, contributions and attitudes".
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
By Viktor Frankl
Rukaiya possibly did not know what Viktor Frankl had said years ago, but she somehow examplified the above statement. Rukaiya is a muslim, married to Kirit Joshi, a Bhramin, out of sheer commitment they made to each other. In face of difficult circumtances of life, they both chose the human freedom and attitude to follow their own way.
Both were highly educated. this courage to marry in face of resistance from the tradition indicates their strength, character and conviction about the value they attached to their meaning of life.
I met Rukaiya through a common friend, when Kirit was diagnosed with cancer in the year 1998. Kirit believed that he can be cured with Trascendental Meditation. During that period i was already a teacher of TM, taught to me by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Kirit passed away in process but Rukaiya chose to learn further meditation from me. At one point of time. I introduced Humanist Movement to her. She was fascinated by a statement in Silo's book, called The Inner Look which said "There is no meaning in life, if everything ends with death".
It was a fortunate coincidence that out of the synchrony of meeting between me, Dr. Manu Kothari and Dr. Shrikant that Rukaiya joined SP Jain school of management at Andheri.
As the shock of losing a spouse got reconciled, living circumtances gave way to openness of life. As Rukaiya began to meet diverse sections of people, she got more inspired to participate actively in Humanist Meetings and retreats. Her conviction to make life more meaningful led her to work in Nehru Nagar slum, to give support and direction to people living in difficult circumstances.
Although i did not have much opportunity to orient Rukaiya in internal work of Humanist Movement, she was greatly inflenced by my activities in diverse fields. She liked my participation as a trustee in Vivekanand Hospital at Latur, in earthquake relief there, and in collection of sizeable funds.
It was interesting for her to see me learning about man's internal world from different masters in the world, synthesizing their teachings into different practices and instantly giving them to others voluntarily. She learnt the importace of unfailingness in spiritual practices and putting them into our daily life as a conscious behaviour.
Rukaiya believes in Humanism, in Gandhism and she appreaciates Vinobha's thoughts. In general, she directs her life with a voluntary spirit towards others. She develops long and meaningful relationships with people. She lives in great harmony with her family and with her surrounding even when she has, many a time, a dissenting stand in certain circumstances.
Rukaiya has a son named Cyril who has done his masters in IT from USA. Cyril, has now married to Afreen, both of them works today in Seatle. Cyril is inspired with her mother's trust in me. He tried to learn from me, what it is to meditate and what it is to produce and direct the energy within us for positive transformation of our internal conditions.
Overall, Rukaiya's entry into my life, with my family and in Humanist Movement has been constructive, engaging and meaningful. Because of her profession as a teacher, she has a facility for dialogue, constructive enquiry and in grasping useful understanding. It is this trait of hers that is the bridge of communication between us on many crucial aspects of life.
Around 1979 my orientor in Humanist Movement suggested me that i enlarge my internal world of action. He asked, me as a first step, to adopt my larger family, including my uncles, cousins and their sons as my own real family. That meant i had to take responsibility of their welfare and development. As a result, i had, in my small home at Santacruz, my brothers and cousins residing together as one family. I took responsibility of their marriages, education, and their development. My wife Lina undertook the relationships and marriages of over 10 to 14 brothers and cousins from my little home.
Later my orientor said that i should further enlarge my world by adopting my native town Latur. When i asked how i can do this, he said, relationship with people of Latur are less important for you than your concern for taking care to acquire means of overcoming their pain and suffering. It was that idea that brought me in touch with Dr. Bharadia in Latur in 1980's. He was one of the founders of Vivekanand Hospital, Latur along with Dr. Ashok Kukade and Dr. Alurkar. I visualized that the best i can do overcome pain and suffering of people in the town of Latur was to convert this small hospital into a large, well equipped, charitable hospital wherein it would be possible to overcome pain and suffering of hundreds of people at very economical cost. During the first discussion, i offered to take care of negotiations of the equipment that the hospital required. That field of negotiation was the strength of my experience in personal business of Wudtools, wherein i used to deal with various countries and suppliers.
This area of influence through participation grew with time in various ways. All the large equipment’s including MRI, C.T. Scan, Pathology equipment’s, Cath Labs, Sonography etc. were all negotiated at very favorable bargain with my participation in their finalization. Starting with equipment purchases, my relationship with Dr. Bharadia grew into intimate family relationships. Dr. Bharadia, when he visited Bombay stayed at my home. During that period he learnt various breathing and energising techniques from me that he religiously followed in his daily practice sessions at Latur. He tells me often that he goes into very minor details of energising each part of the brain and the body by focusing his attention on the part. This is his special ability because he knows the anatomy of the body and the brain as an MD physician.
Latur was struck by a massive earthquake in 1993. Dr. Bharadia was the first person to get into action very early in the morning. He did a marathon work in moving the wheels of things that mattered, from rescue point of view. He was the first one to discover an almost new born child, in garbages of earthquake. He picked up the child, a girl, and took care of her until she was adopted by responsible and dignified parents.
During the earthquake, me and Dr. Bharadia travelled throughout India to collect funds. I put up a large advertisement in 25 newspapers. I took care of donors in Bomaby, including the donations offered by various Jain Temples in Bombay. Later me and Dr. Bharadia travelled throughout India for the cause of alleviating the suffering that earthquake had caused. Together, donations worth Rs. 5 crore were collected then.
Earthquake at Latur was a trigger for undertaking similar projects to provide assistance and support during floods in Mumbai, Bihar, Tsumni Tamilnadu, tragedy in Kashmir valley etc. We both could provide services of highly equipped ambulances, doctors, medicines, and emergency provisions through Vivekanand Hospital, Latur.
Our friendship grew into creating mutual environment in which Dr. Bharadia began to learn various systems of brain breathing, energization of the whole body and personal wellbeing from me. Until today, Dr. Bharadia says, he follows these practices during his early morning’s yoga personal practice sessions.
Dr. Bharadia had highly concerned, participative and active intervention whenever serious illness occurred in my family at Bombay, whether it was my Angioplasty, Bypass surgery, Mona's difficulties, my wife's illness, Priyakant and Vasanti's illnesscess etc. That participation was not just consulting, it was very constructive. Psychologically it fullfiled the role of alleviating the pain and suffering in the family.
Dr. Bharadia has two sons, Rahul and Nitin , Rahul is a chief executive in a large corporate house. Nitin does his own business. Besides he has a daughter, called Munshi, very happily married in Narasimhapur.
However Dr. Bharadia's biggest help, support and companionship come from his wife Kanta. Kanta herself hails from a very well-to-do family in Pune. Kanta is a model of devotion, care and protection for Dr. Bharadia.
Knowing Dr. Bharadia for decades has provided perhaps the instance of longest friendship i have had in my life. There is no one, among friends of nearly my age, who is as close as him, as a friend, psychological help and as real companion.
It was around 1982, when i was propagating ideas about Humanist Movement to students, that i met Ummed Nahata in Mithibai college. Ummed took liking to ideas and we worked together for several years. His main concern was learning and improving himself but he was committed to the central idea of working beyond oneself, to overcome pain and suffering of others.
He tried several practices taught to him and he felt the beginning of a change in his feelings and attitude. His particular characteristic was to learn the gist of what is taught. In 35 years that i have known him now Ummed, irrespective of his monetary conditions, has always remained a man of abandon, a man who was always seeking to move towards a better future, and a person courageous in his every move. He has been a man of a happy temperament in all circumstances. Being pleasant and happy, not being stressful and strained was his basic temperament.
I have seen Ummed move from a one-room sofa-cum-bed accommodation to build a corporate house in Information Technology(http://www.evosysglobal.com/), employing over 850+ employees with presence in 20 countries, working together with a very harmonious close-knit team of 18 super specialists.
I think that Ummed learnt from me more through observations, teachings and grasps, than through practices i taught him. What was inherent in him was courage to challenge constraints of thoughts and circumstances, boldness to communicate and be friendly with people from a very humble car driver to the president of corporate company in India or in Europe. It was this dynamics and flexibility of movement of energy in his images that made him what he is today--a man who is at ease of being among all levels of people, a man of accomplishing what he visualizes and a person that goes on learning and improving. What is outstanding about Ummed is that he is not possessed by things or by success, he has a greater wisdom to understand what gives him fulfillment in life, through achieving, through leaving or through giving.
Ummed married years back to a pretty, intelligent and independent woman called Priya. During Ummed's busy-ness with his career building, Priya not only took care of their home but also engaged in herself with dignity in teaching in schools and in doing various meaningful occupations. Ummed and Priya have two daughters- Sanskriti and Rashi
In a recorded interview with him on 10 feb 2017 he says, the teachings and learning’s he had in this environment percolated his life in such a way that they not only showed their influence in his behavior and attitude, but also in influencing the circle of his close friends. He says, his two adult daughters, Sanskiriti and Rashi have been, in a way, influenced by these values in such that they are somehow looking for what gives meaning and fulfillment to their life, rather than what give success to their careers.
As a result, Sanskriti, the 23 years old elder daughter, has opted not to pursue the corporate route in her life, but to join the voluntary work of building and developing a few model villages in district Beed in Maharastra, by Fulora Foundation of Mayank Gandhi (http://www.merinews.com/article/fulora-foundation-of-mayank-gandhi-a-hope-for-drought-hit-beed/15916432.shtml). Rashi, on the other hand, is working for media and communication to look for an opportunity to serve a larger interest of the society.
Ummed, on his way to learn, improve and comprehend life, its meaning and its purpose, went on studying further. He has now actively joined Madhyasth Darshan, Co-existence based Spiritualism, http://www.madhyasth-darshan.info/ propounded by A. Nagraj Baba. It is a very inclusive and holistic philosophy of life that has its views on working of the Universe and its influence on human being.
When i met Jaswant Singh Bhachoo in 1964, i was at the concluding phase of my employment of Batliboi and Company, a machine tool provider from different countries of origin. In those days, i wanted to make some spare tools for machines we were selling for Woodworking. Mr. Bhachoo then ran a small scale industry in Goregaon, making woodworking tools mainly for railways.
What i remember in my first meeting was his great self-confidence, irrespective of suitable industrial equipment in his factory. He was basically a man of skill, improvisation and inbuilt capacity to complete things, even in face of difficulties.
I started the company Wudtools around 1965. He was then my main technical support, but beyond that he was my trustworthy and affectionate friend. Irrespective of our educational and age difference, we shared mutual trust, interdependent and clarity of togetherness.
Mr. Bhachoo was a dreamer; he wished that someday he settles his future in USA. He also dreamed of makings films someday, for which he told me he had an interesting story ready with him so when i asked him what was a story, he said it was "Love Letters". He always wished to be short of any insufficiencies of life.
All said and done, he was basically a simple, honest and family loving man. His greatest support came from his wife Santosh who has been, even today, in my image, a model of courage, patience and resilience.
Bhachoo was not very educated man but in me, as a friend and as a business colleague, he found a source of completing administrative and financial formalities so that he could set up an industry of his vision. Along with his industrial vision, he developed a passion for acquiring properties for the purpose. He could then somehow manage to buy real estates that, his son Tony tells me, is also the basis of what the family is today in term of financial wealth.
Tony(Harish Singh Bhachoo), his eldest son, and i continued our friendship and affection even after bodily disappearance of Bhachoo. I and Tony often choose intentionally to spend meaningful time together, about once a month, to share new insights into life. Somehow Tony respects and sees in me a guide, an insightful man about life and a senior companion. My experience in meeting him is that our age difference never mattered. What really matters is the meaningfulness of our exchange.
Having known Jaswant Singh Bhachoo and his family fills me with tremendous gratitude, indebtedness and fulfillment. Bhachoo took his last breath in 2002.
Mr. Chunilal Bhimji Shah, Director of Greentose Private Limited, situated at Dalal street, Fort came as a harbinger of a change of my career early in my life. He was unknown to me. There were no common acquaintances. I met him accidently, one day, by chance in his office.
While working with Batliboi and Company, i had requirement of a V-belt. I happened to see his sign board on an electrical post and i thought i should meet him. In my first meeting, he was unusually helpful asking my name, town, background of education etc.
I told him, i had know-how of my line but i lacked a space and money to start my own business. Knowing all this, he instantly offered to give me free of charge, a table and a chair in his office if i wished to start my own business. It was quite surprising that a stark stranger should offer to help a stranger like me start his career in the very first meeting.
Resigning from Batliboi, i accepted his offer to start a company called Wudtools from the space he had offered to me. He even offered initial capital of few thousand rupees which was quite a substantial sum in those days. I offered him to become my partner and we started Wudtools as a partnership company. I started working with Jaswant Singh Bhachoo to trade in woodworking tools for plywood and sawmill industry.
The business grew steadily but the size of business was uninteresting for Mr. Shah. So we mutually agreed to part and i took over as Wudtools as a proprietary company to shift at Cawaji Patel Street in Fort. It was a small, rented 7ft by 8ft cubicle in which i could accommodate one stenographer and a peon.
Wudtools grew steadily. At the same time relationship with Mr. Shah also became more intimate. I used to go to his house for dinner regularly.
He trusted me so much that he asked me to arrange meetings between his engineer son, Mr.Satish and my uncle's daughter Vidya residing at Latur. Eventually they got married and even today Satish is an intimate part of my family.
After Satish, Mr. Shah took reference of my brother-in-law Mr. Priyakant Dalal and arrange the marriage of his elder daughter Suman with Priyakant's sister's son Mahendra. Eventually his second daughter Beena also got married in the same house.
Looking back to meeting Mr. Shah as a stranger and events that followed our relationship, looks like an eventful coincidence and strange togetherness.
Remove Mr. Shah from my early life and i do not know how many years i would have still struggled to build a home in Bombay that was the dream of my father. Mr. Shah's entry in my life was the Foundation Stone of my career. My major part of family including cousins are today settled in Mumbai, thanks to early shelter, education and marriage arrangements that my wife, Lina could make possible under trying circumstances. Mr. Shah's contribution in my life is a blessing.
Mr. Shah left his body in the year 2003.
Fatema Pocketwala came to join Wudtools initially as my assistant, back in the year 1971. She was Art Graduate and Bohra Muslim by caste. There were lots of restrictions with which she worked but yet she served for nearly works 42 years in Wudtools, which is almost a lifetime of working. She never worked anywhere after she left. The outstanding character Fatema was absolute loyalty, trust and regularity in working.
She was basically a learner, a hard worker and a person who belonged to the company. I am very fortunate that i had such a trustworthy secretary who systematically managed what was told. With her, i developed imports for wudtools, started factories in latur, laid foundation of Industrial Product Company, managed export of stationery largely to Middle East very extensively and initiated Total Tools and Equpiment Private Limited . Fatema managed the systematic records, communication and movement of orders etc. with an admirable record keeping. One particular thing about her was that her presence in the company made me secure, gave me lot of freedom of movement and i could lose worries. She was communicative, very cordial and yet very straight forward.
She says she learnt so many things during our association that today those learining have matured her into a very good human being. Her mother is her strength. She extremly takes care of her while her brothers take care of Fatema.
Fatema became a part of Humanist movement while she was working with Wudtools. She stareted a group largely consisting of women. During those days she spread the Humanist teachings to her known group very regularly and effectively.
Today Fatema is retired and looks back to our association with lot of satisfaction and fulfillment. I look back to Fatema's participation in my life as one of the most valuable association I had with persons i have so far worked with in my life. If i remove Fatema's image from my life, i think that without her i would have been a man of stress, disorganisation and without an order in what i did. I feel very grateful to her.
Prahlad Ashtekar met me when i was in school in Latur during 1950. My penchant for Indian classical music led me to a local music devotional group called Guruvar Club, Ashtekar lived in Latur. He used to play tabla voluntarily in Guruvar Club, attended by local people. My age in those days would have been around 12. Ashtekar was senior to me but in Guruvar club at Latur, i developed liking for him as a very honest person.
Ustad Shaik Dawood Khan
In 1955 i shifted to Hyderabad for my engineering graduation while Asthekar went to Hyderabad to become a professional tabla player under rigorous training from renowned Ustad Shaik Dawood Khan . Under Dawood Khan he rose from a common village tabla player to accomplished artist nuanences of his other tabla gharanas.
After being an engineering graduate i came to Bombay in 1963. Around 1975 i was living in Santacruz in Archana at Tagora Road. I daily used to travel by train to Mumbai for business. It was during my rush to station among crowd of people in those days that i suddenly noticed a tall figure who looked like Ashtekar. By an instinct, i called his name and he turned back. We sat in a hotel and he told me his miserable situation. He said he was allowed to sleep in a temple in exchange for playing Dhol during Aarti. Suddenly the memories of Latur and my gratitude towards him filled me with an obligation to intervene in his financial situation.
Ashtekar was in difficulty, had to live away from his home. He was dependent only on tabla playing jobs and did not want to deviate from the profession of tabla playing. I decided to put some classified advertisements for him in Times of India from which he got some tuitions. Additionally i asked my elder sister Vasanti, living at Juhu, to train Nailesh, her eldest son, to learn tabla as an art. That assignment became popular in Juhu scheme. As a result, he got several assignments for tabla teaching for students in very well-to-do families. His financial conditions, his appearance, his confidence and his posture changed as if he had found fulfillment and dignity in his life.
At that moment he wanted to shift his residence from his slum from Teli Galli at Andheri. I instantly searched some buildings under construction and was fortunate to be able to buy a one BHK apartment for him in Bussa Apartment at Dattatray Road in Santacruz west.
Sheetal Ashtekar
Ashtekar with Wife Priti & Sheetal
Ashtekar got remarried to Priti in 1981 and had a daughter called Sheetal, now 32. When Sheetal was small, Ashtekar wished for her an education in English. Fortunately it was possible to get a free entrance to a Christians Girl's school in Santacruz . Sheetal grew to become a graduate in communication over time. She is now married happily in Chembur in a good family and works as a HRD executive.
Ashtekar was uneducated, very honest, and hardworking and without any addictions that nearly always went with renowned artist of those days. He used to be very punctual in his timing. All this endeared the people who hired him for tabla teaching. Among those known to me, Nailesh became an accomplished tabla player. Nailesh liked Ashtekar and Ashtekar had great faith Nailesh's tendency to take care. Ashtekar accompanied various classical instrument players and singing masters including Kishori Amonkar. He accompanied Rasiklal Andharia whenever he visited Mumbai for his concerts.
During his lifetime, Ashtekar and me spent very interesting and heartful time in conversation at my home. My home was his constant place of visit. However during his last days, when he developed cancer of hip, he was greatly taken care by Nailesh. Nailesh arranged some Gurupurnima functions and received a fair amount of money as Gurudakshina, which have stood in good stead through investments in share market by Nailesh. Ashtekar died in 1997.
Ashtekar left indelible impression on Nailesh. He was a great companion for me and Navin Parekh. Both me and Nailesh are happy that Ashtekar's coming in our lives has turned his family's fortune for good. We both miss Ashtekar's humble and artful presence in our life, while we cherish our days we passed together.
Navin Parekh and me married on the same day, 3rd February 1963, and at same venue, along with my brother-in-law Harsukh Parekh, who happened to be Navin's brother. So we were 3 couples married together on one stage. Over a period of time Navin and me found a common interest in Indian classical music- i was a keen listener whereas Navin was a profound knower of music. Besides music, me and Navin shared lot of oneness, harmony and good feelings.
Classical music was an intense love of my life. I dreamed always that great singers would one day come my home and sing or play music. That dream got fulfilled by a simple and personal approach to great musicians like Hariprasad Chaursia, the legendary flute player, Jitendra Abhisheki, a great composer singer and marathi stage artist, Prabhakar Karekar, an award-winning Indian classical vocalist of Agra and Gwaliar gharana and expert marathi Natyasangeet singer, Rasiklal Andharia, a melodious singer from Gujarat, belonging to Kirana and Indore gharana. I approached each of them personally, as a fan and a follower. When i met most of these great artists simply and affectionately during their concerts, to my surprise, they all agreed to come to my house simply on request and virtually without any payment.
Hariprasad Chaurasia Prabhakar Karekar Rasiklal Andhariya Jitendra Abhisheki
Inspiration behind this musical initiative was Navin Parekh. Navin was a man, whose very presence in a mehfil (musical get together) carried weight. The singer or the instrument player would very easily find in Navin a great participant with whom they resonated. Navin, for me, was an indispensible companion. Without him i will feel alone.
I should make a particular mention here of how i met the great musician singer from Gujarat Mr. Rasiklal Andharia. Once i heard Rasiklal Andharia over an early morning radio program from Kutch, Bhuj. I instantly felt that i should invite him to my home to sing, wherever he was. Navin knew Rasiklal Andharia more closely by name and told me he lived in Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
Not knowing how to contact him, without any common link, i wrote a postcard to Post Master General, Bhavnagar. I asked the Post Master to reach the message to Rasiklal as my personal request. It so happened that he knew him personally. He handed over the message at his home. Everything became easy as he phoned back. I asked him how i would recognize him when he arrives. He said, on coming Sunday, there will be only one man with black Modi jacket Tanpura in his hand, getting down from Gujarat Express at Bombay Central station. That was enough. We had then onwards several common occasions with Rasikbhai with Akashvani Radio Station, Bombay Doordarshan, and with common friends for arranging his vocal concerts.
Navinbhai is a simple, pure hearted, uncomplicated friend and a great music lover. He is happily married to Indira and has two daughters Dr. Rita and Falguni, a business administrator. If there is one man in my life with whom i want to pass a meaningful long and enjoyable leisure, it would be Navin, living at ghatkoper now, nearly same age as mine. I owe a lot of gratitude to him for coming and staying in my life.
I came to Mumbai from my village and met you on 14th March 2007. I had come for only one day and was employed as a personal driver immediately in SOIL -The School Of Internal Literacy.
Working here I learnt that SOIL was voluntarily dedicated to humanity to make people discover what is of great value in their innerself. To learn to recognize, appreciate and accept what is valuable within oneself is the beginning of giving meaning to life and moulding it in direction of what gives substance to it.
At that time my age was 19 years and education was only upto 11th class in Marathi Medium. My English was poor.
Today I consider this day as Turning Point of my life. For, until then, I had never imagined i could learn english or accomplish an expertize in computerization or even learn how to practice.
Somehow working in SOIL, my potential was recognized. I saw that i was one of the many whose life was oriented, sponsored and shaped by SOIL. I was guided and supported to learn English and simultaneouly a computer basic course. Then i was trained in english speaking and writing course. I got more confident and i started liking english as a language and computer learning as my future.
In 2010 Soil helped me to take an extensive course in Hardware and Networking. That changed my level of inner strength, i became well versed in the field and started teaching this to others.
Well versed to handle computer nitty gritties, i started working as an office executive. During this work, I realized that my potential lies not in doing simple manual tasks but in learning and perfecting that which is complex and high-tech. I started investing into time that nights gave me. So during nights, after work hours, i started learning Video Editing.
After Video editing was well learnt, I faced a difficult moral choice - I must leave SOIL which supported me throughout, to exercise my freedom of option to move to world of higher opportunities. To my surprise, I was in fact encouraged by Soil to go ahead. In 2011 I joined Lucia Entertainment where i started editing of Marathi TV serials.
I moved further to a firm known as 720 Ten Films who were in business of corporate Audio Video presentations for very renowned groups in which film editing was very professional.
Through out this period, i had two mentors: In orienting my inner world,it was Soil and its inspiration. In guiding my career in the outer world, it was Mr Ravi Tomkoria, the upcoming film editor. That introduced me to its larger version-the Film Editing. In January 2014, Mr Ravi introduced me to very renowned Anil Kapoor Films where today I am working as an Assistant Film Editor for the new film entitled Khoobsurat wherein i will get officially the credits on the large screen. Eventually i was a Assistant Editor in - Udata Punjab, Rustom, MS Dhoni, Nam Shabana, Toilet Ek Prem Katha. This year, I will complete my Graduation in Commerce. I have additionally started working with 8 time National Award Winner Editor Mr A. Sreekar Prasad. I consider this an honour in my life.
Thanks to SOIL and its orientors, in just six years, from a village boy to a non-discript car driver, to an Asst Film editor, my journey has seen an ascending inner graph. I experienced more mental clarity, rise in energy levels and rise in my spirits.I have learnt, more by example, than by teaching, that giving in life is to centre ourselves in others,to see future even in those that look ordinary, humble and uneducated.
when i came from pune in 2007 as a village boy i could not believe the rise i would experience in life through constant support. I had ambitions but i could not dare imagine that, being just a driver, i could marry a girl that i love because she was far more educated(M.COM) than me. However the rise i saw in life after being in such an association. I could become an assistant film editor, my income multiplied my envirnoment changed and she was very happy to marry me. I married this year in 2017
I learnt that receiving makes me hungry for more but giving enlarges my world and gives meaning to the way i exist.
I experienced that besides money, what is very meaningful in life is to give recognition and appreciation. I realize that what elevates a person is encouraging, inspiring and guiding.
Thank you for coming in my life.
Nitin kawde, 25 basically was a village boy from Pune. He joined me as a replacement car driver for his brother Dhananjay. Dhananjay left my job under a plan made for him for a more dignified life.
When Nitin joined, he had a simple routine job of being a driver with a duty from 11am to 8pm. However, during my conversations with him while he was driving me everyday, i felt as if he was not a driving material. He was ambitious and looked forward to a greater future. So i asked him what was his main interest in life and where he would like to excel. He said, his main interest was in the field of fitness.
Seeing his enthusiasm, provisions were made so that he can first attain fitness for himself and then become a qualified Gym instructor. Accordingly, in the year 2013, he was sponsored in the K11 Fitness Academy at Santacurz East to complete course. Nitin was known to me as an earnest, hardworking, devoted person. He stood upto this image when he completed the course to become a Gym instructor.
Since then, his daily routine has now changed. He was getting up at 8am in morning at his residence at Vashi, Navi Mumbai, to join the job at 11 am. Now he got another job at Vashi in a Gym. So now he gets up at 5am, works for a Gym job from 6am to 9:30am and joins his usual santacruz job at 11am. Now he has two jobs.
This was an example of seeing the potential in an ordinary village boy. The changed look shifted not only his standard of living, but he experienced a new stage of life. He gets more respect and dignity while doing a job that he himself likes. According to me, this is not a big deal but simply an instance of how we can change someone's future by taking interest in his life and by looking out for opportunities that fit his talent.
Today Nitin is about to be married, his standard of living changed, he is financially much better off. Looking at several similar instances, Nitin says "I have learnt in this humancentric envirnoment that when you take selfless interest in development of the other, you convert yourself into the mythical 'touch stone' that converts a piece of iron into a piece of gold on simply touching"
I forsee that Nitin has tasted a better life of diginity as compared to the routine that a car driver lives with. It appears, he will make his career into something much better, although starting from a full time Gym instructor.
In 2001 my wife Lina got ill and had to be operated in Vivekanand Hospital, Latur. During that period i had to stay in Latur for one and half months. I was looking for converting this spare time into some meaningful engagement. Since i was studying in Latur, i had lots of my school friends living there. I made a morning meditation group with them to teach the new methods about energy science i was practicing.
Nagnath Cholkhane with wife
Since evenings were free, i thought of an old school freind of mine, Nagnath Cholkhane, who was a sign board Painter. Nagnath had a small slum like house on nearly 5000 square feet plot. Nagnath invited few friends from neighbourhood to attend the evening class of meditation. It was during that class that Shivlila, Nagnath's daughter-in-law, decided to join the group to learn the meditation actively.
Shivlila with husband Vijay
In those one and half months, Shivlila, 25, got interested in learning and practicing more. She told me that she was running a kindergarden children group in their small house. However she was ambitious and had dreams of building a large school where she can teach three hundred students at one time.
The inspirations and the orientation she received through Humanist teachings told her that:
1. "Thoughts produce action and image precedes action".
2. A small image can be made bigger.
3. A dull image can be made brighter.
4. More you reapeat your thoughts, stronger you get in your conviction to make them possible.
5. More faith one has in himself, more the effectivity is realization of images.
Side view of school
Shivlila believed in these teachings and her resolve to convert the land where they were living into a school became firm. Bank of Maharastra was approached, who gave a loan of Rs.19.35 lakhs for the project. Further help from me and Viren Shah, the school got a shape wherein today 300 students get nursery education. The school is called Little Flower Bal Vihar. It is one of the most equipped and decent schools in Latur. Enclosed is a letter from Shivlia, describing these developments in her own words.
All classroom walls are painted with disney cartoons
As the school grew, shivlila's commitment to meditation and SOIL's energising practices grew further. she says that she gets up at 4 am morning and vigrously practices all the Soil methods of meditation and energisation. These practices have made her more calm, receptive to others and highly energetic through out the day. She says her our outlook towards life has become very cheerful, optimistic and friendly. she looks forwards to her future with brightness. To promote meditation as a system useful to life, Shivlia sponsors regular weekly meditation group of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the name of The Art of Living.
The whole Cholkhane family
Shivlila is married to Vijay Cholkhane. He is an engineer in Maharastra Jeevan Pradhikaran (Water Supply Department). Vijay is very sincere. He fully supports Shivlila and her positive activities. Nagnath, her father in law, likes the whole envirnomnet created today because of activities of The School and popularity it has got in the town of Latur.
Shivlila has two daughters and a son. All three are studying engineering, while the elder one, Prajkata, has completed her engineering in year 2016 and now works in IT company Pune. Shivlila says the culture of enthusiam, optimism and energised living have passed on to the next generation. They all find inspiration in Shivlila and are practicing as much as they can.
Shivlila's is an example of woman's empowerment. She is a believer in training oneself for and supports the credo of fulfilling the promise one makes to himself. She has brightened the future of the entire family. For me, I am pleased that the teachings and thoughts i passed on to the group construtively built life of some. I reffered to Shivlila as an exmaple to follow and as a model of inspiration.
I attach here a biographical letter from Shivlila she wrote for Soil, as her testimony.
Kiran Reddy was an acquaintance introduced through Abhishek Sharma in 2013. He was 23 then. when he came he was a law graduate, an L.L.B. He carried a zeal for knowing about life rather than knowing what can make him succeed in making money. He came from a well-to-do family from Hyderabad. Possibly it was this background that gave him freedom to indulge in knowing more about him, about life and about what gave meaning to his existence. Abhishek suggested that he discuss these matters with me. Kiran's father is a very dignified retired government executive and is now in construction business at Hyderabad. Kiran's mother, Vasanti, has a predominent influence on Kiran. He has a brother Tejasvini to whom Kiran is a mentor.
Not knowing what he is seeking, I first asked him whether he felt that life has a meaning and whether it is necessary to discover attitude, practices and activities that made life meaningful. He instantly liked this proposition. We discussed that this was not an intellectual but a profound dimension of life that required association, sustained learning and experiencing. He realized this. So we constantly remained in touch for about two and half years, almost on daily basis.
During this period, there were an intense period in which Kiran began to learn different dimensions of Humanism, Non-violence, aspects of discrimination in life. He learnt that he needed to cultivate attitudes and actions that gave meaning to life.
Along with this, Kiran was mainly instrumental in defining, organizing contents and to give shape to formation of The School of Internal Literacy (SOIL) that I had floated, based on various dimensions of energy boosting through images, breathing and stretching that I learnt from Humanist Movement.
Kiran started writing a book for SOIL under my direction and guidance. His ability to put an order, classification and sequence to contents was extremely useful. We could cover in the book several aspects of about 20 to 25 practices that Soil developed for Breathing Energy Meditations. We made reference to various supportive and illustrative dimensions of each concept with the help of Google. Kiran was all energy, enthusiasm and a volunteer.
Kiran says, through this knowledge and practices, he could experience sizeable enhancement in his daily energy levels, clarity about his activities , and tendency to influence lives of those who came in contact with him. He used this knowledge and energy to pursue several dimensions of life that he wanted to explore, right from Students For Liberty, a USA based NGO, to his own business activities that he is experimenting with.
Kiran was largely influenced by the manifestation of energy that he could see in Abhishek Sharma’s family as a whole, in the environment he saw around Humanist Movement and in the activities that were pursued for formation of Soil Videos, tranining and spread of its teachings. He had found that this whole environment had a touch of selflessness, an attitude of giving and to live with rejoicing. It created a sort of an initial model of environment he wanted to create in his own life.
In Humanist Movement and in Soil he was massively influenced by a tendency to have interest in other people’s improvement, in spreading a message of Humanism at every opportunity and to direct life by a meaning.
Kiran is yet searching, trying to settle for a permanent vocation in life and in general, to understand how to live a substantial, well directed and meaningful life. Today he is 26, yet to be married. I see that he is man who is striving hard to make difference to himself, his family and to the world he is surrounded by.
It is not often in life that you come across people or events that become meaningful in few days for the benefits of all concerned. Siddharth Dilipsingh Gehlot is one such rare instance in my life. Although my life is replete with many meaningful coincidences, Siddharth's story stands out as extraordinarily meaningful.
It is now about 20 years, around 1997, that i happened to travel in an AC bus from Pune to Mumbai during midnight. Siddharth and we happened to sit side by side. We struck into conversation that eventually became meaningful for life. Though Siddharth was an engineering graduate who said he was a non-believer, uninterested in spirituality and philosophy of life, our conversation somehow attracted him because they talked of meaning of life. After about five hours, we parted at two km distance from his home in Mumbai. We agreed to meet same day at 9 am after taking some rest.
Our first meeting, lasted about 1.5 hours. We spoke of clarification on way of learning by experiences, understanding by feeling what we practice and advancing in life by continuous improvement of our comprehension. Everything was scientific, some of the teachings were special and many unfolded how the life can be meaningful through our actions, experiences and positions we take in front of difficulties.
Kiran Reddy
A very important contribution of Siddharth in my life was in the process of forming the definition, formulating of practices and in précising the contents of SOIL (The School of Internal Literacy). Before Siddharth came, Soil was only an idea with certain knowhow regarding practices of directing, circulating and elevating energy into body. With the help of Siddharth and another volunteer Kiran Reddy we could give shape to the whole concept of Soil. Although lot of work remains to be done in popularizing Soil, the contribution mentioned here form the most valuable asset.
Siddharth says, now his meaning and purpose in life is to share and teach SOIL meditative techniques to the whole world. He strongly believes if he can be so happy, peaceful and lively because of these practices then they need to be shared with all. By this way, if he can remove suffering from world and make it a happy place, it would contribute to his purpose of Life."
Siddharth eventually went to USA for higher learning. After sometime he came back and said, he would like to summarize his experiences and learning’s in a book that tells the story by way of point wise synthesis, progressively in each chapter. During his brief stay in India, a manuscript of book was ready. He asked me to correct, elaborate, modify and print the book. The book was ready in a few months and was aptly called "An Autobiography of A Seeker".
Siddharth always remained a seeker, not a follower. He always had a "passion for comprehension" that led him to understand deep secrets of life in their roots. He studied various philosophers, spiritualists and guides. I learnt that he had special penchant for writings of Deepak Chopra.
Siddarth, as was his wont, always contemplated and meditated deeply on things that attracted him. As a result, i realized that over a period of time he had become a man with certain beliefs and convictions. From, them he used to have certain stands about life, about future and about things that are certain to come!.
Siddharth, has a great reverence for LIFE. He believes and practices to live his life to the fullest. Anything less is considered disrespect to life. This attitude creates a passion in what he does that turns into a celebration. To live a dull and colorless life is a personal choice. Life, wants you to live to your utmost potential.
Meditation is not something that should be done in a particular position at a particular time. It is an awareness and an attitude that must persist throughout the day.
His practices are engaged in spirituality. He believes in non-dualism. Even though he has a separate time for meditation, he is engaged in outer world as a practitioner. He partakes in all his worldly responsibilities and duties with a meditative attitude. He thinks meditation should not stop or be confined to limited period. It should not be non-inclusive. It should encompass all we do in our life. Everything is Spiritual!
A particular dimension that needs to be emphasized here is Siddharth's great convictions about affirmations as a constant tool for reaching a desired destination in life. According to him, affirmations are way of aligning our psyche to the future we have committed to. They should resonate with our intention. They are a powerful tool for transformation. An affirmation is a declaration internally made to oneself. It is an actual act of drawing a line in the sand that declares, “This will be”. This is so significant for everyone that i prefer to attached here the chapter of affirmation Click Here from his book.
Siddharth visited India and stayed with me. During all the visits, i always found him more optimistic, most certain and more enthusiastic about learning new dimensions of life right from cooking to decoration, besides the deeper aspects of inner world.
Siddharth now stays in Massachusetts (MA) USA. He deals in properties. He has married to Nidhi from India and has a lovely girl child. He loves his home and always desires to travel new territories of the world, taste new foods, meet new cultures and experience new visions of life spiritually.
It has been a benediction to have met what worked and known siddharth during this lifetime. He is basically a loving family man and greatly respects his parents and loves his home and personal family. As a person he is generous and giving.
Background:
Around 2012, the knowledge i had gathered on breathings systems around the world and its relationship to the generation and circulation of energy into body, was taking shape of formalized practices. Since these practices involved drawing, movie, circulative and focused of energy through breathing, they were termed as dynamic meditation. I had tried them for months on end regularly on myself and had taught them to others voluntarily. They gave very impressive results in a very short time.
So i thought of showing these practices through animated videos. I had located as a pair of students of Arena Animations to develop videos with background music. What i needed was a model that looks good, and had some sort of disciplined training into breathing. It was through Sonali, the yoga teacher who was teaching my daughter Nisha, that i got to know Manish Gor.
When i met Manish, i instantly liked him for he was not money oriented, had a voluntary attitude and was an accomplished yoga teacher. When i showed him what is to be done in the video, he learnt very fast. Together, we did quite a number of videos along with the videographer Himanshu Agarwal, a student of Arena Animation. The seven videos are already put on YouTube under the title of School of Internal Literacy. Further videos are on way. SOIL Videos
Manish's overall experience:-
Manish is around 40 years of age. He is an active member of SOIL (School of Internal Literacy). He also teaches some of the SOIL methods in class and incorporates. Here is his experience taken from his recorded interview:
Brain March with left hand
Brain March with right hand
"When i first met Mr. Linesh Sheth about SOIL he showed me energy can be maneuvered with the help of breathing as a conducting thread and using hands as strearing wheels for guiding the energy. I learnt how to move circulate expand contract spiral, and focus the energy. Mr. Linesh Sheth had learnt this science from various masters he had met in his life."
"A particular practice i learnt was brain march. Brain March is a discipline way with marching with breathing with focused on left right and center part of brain. A six minutes march that i tried in various classes followed by 9 minutes of relaxation not only produce an amazing energetic upsurge, it also multiplied the capacity to perform various asanas for a much longer time. For e.g. people who are doing surya namaskar before doing brain march were getting exhausted with 6 or 8 rounds. But after the Brain March they were able to do 25 rounds. People do not want to miss the brain march in any case.

Later i learnt how to meditate effectively with the effect of musical of different frequencies (Hertz) with rhythm and this was an altogether new experience to coordinate with my breath movement in a rhythm. Just 15 min of meditation produce a very peaceful effect which i can now teach to others as these sounds are available on YouTube, as guided by Mr. Linesh Sheth.
For me, being in contact with SOIL along with personal contact with Linesh Sheth have been very enriching, enlightening, giving me an opportunity to transmit this knowledge to many.
Anish, my elder son, 47, always had a great respect for me. During his education, i had a clear choice in front of me. I wanted Anish to take over the technical dimension of our business in Total Tools and Wudtools as an expert. However i had realized during my engineering education that true knowledge comes not only from higher degrees at college but from practical field experience. Therefore i wanted him not to follow a degree course in engineering but to do a diploma in mechanical engineering with a specialized course in tooling specialization. He exactly followed that. It gave him another kind of strength, clarity and direction.
In the beginning Anish was working, guided by me. However at the age of 17, in 1987, he joined Humanist Movement under orientation of Atul Jadia and Parimal Merchant. The participation of Humanist Movement inspired him to form his own group to study and work together on social front as himself as an orientor. That empowered him towards independence in his way of thinking, working and planning. The confidence he got in Humanist Movement worked for him in business to grow from dependence on me to independence with confidence in his own ideas and way of working. Therefore the journey of moving towards independence was not an act of rebellion against the tradition but was a result of maturing in confidence. I am grateful to Humanist Movement that it made this transition possible.
Over period of time me and Anish started consulting each other, sharing our ideas experiences and the vision of future. This inspired him to search for new avenues in the world to work with. Anish says that what helped him in this process was learning’s he received from work with Images, that i myself learned from Silo's theory, as practically illustrated in his work on Guided Experiences. He learnt the power of images and possibilities of their maneuvering to what we aim for in life.
By manoeuvring Anish understood that image precedes action. As is our image, so is our action.
However images are not static in our minds. Whatever way they are, formed at a given stage, can be changed. Small images can be made bigger, dull images can be made brighter, image that looked at a distance can be brought nearer, weak images can be made powerful and negative images can be transformed into positive. He realized that this capacity to transform images really transforms one's habitual nature and his potential.
The work with images helped him to understand that traditionally our business house had an image of only working with woodworking tools and tools of Alloy Steels. He saw in his image a potential to shift from image of woodworking to image of metalworking. That included working with steel pipes and tubes. Consequently, it opened up a future of working with materials other than alloy steel to High Speed Steels, Carbides, Diamonds and Ceramics. That change of image enlarged the size of business and its potential.
During my discussion with Eduardo, who is a man with great and varied experience in bringing about international collaborations, mentioned that among the main strengths of Anish is his patience and calmness when he is confronted with a problem that needs a considered solution. He said that the times are changing when traders have to have far greater knowledge about the evolutionary persceptive of the technologies so that the buyers can truly depend on the seller's competence. He said in a futuristic tone that Anish's main contribution in the emerging scenario would be not only to help new generation to adapt to the needs of the business, but also to clarify and make them understand the levels at which new technologies exist and compete at the same time.
Anish is very avid, enthusiastic and planned visitor to international and Indian exhibitions. He visited several of these exhibitions in many countries as a way of his life. In each exhibition, he saw possibilities of working with various collaborators in different fields. He studied their catalogues, their range and applications in details. He says that he learnt the faculty of going into details and working with them, while he saw me working with different ideas. Anish saw that as a business house, our strength was ideas, images, and building of relationships. Money was not our strength. So he understood that it made a great sense to focus on a small range of tools rather than working with multiple tooling systems like drills end mills, milling cutters form cutters etc. He began to understand that the best area to focus was where there was least competition and no intervention from multinationals. He discovered this area in Technology of Sawing, involving HSS Saws as well as high end toolings in woodworking. As a result, he began to focus on few HSS sawing manufactures as well as catalogue driven woodworking tools like CMT.
Until this development, Anish found himself cornered into technicality of things, not in economics of business. At this stage it was entry of Amit, his younger brother, specialized as an MBA in Family Managed Business, trained by Parimal Merchant, that he found a real companion to wriggle out from constraints of technicality into economics of business.
Anish saw in Amit a sort of a co-traveler who also had different insights and vision of future. Anish says he found in Amit, an aggressive and progressive businessman, a great savior, a friend and a hope. He says Amit compensated a lot with his personal strength and ways of working. Many times different points of view arise but Anish sees them as emerging new insights of future. Anish says he was inspired and borrowed lot of features from my life and ways of working with creativity. He says, he learnt from me how to get interested in different fields like medical, musical, spiritual, literacy etc. He also learnt how to enlarge the circle of friends and understand how to maintain it without a breakage with anyone. He found that accepting others for what they are, letting go of what differs and seeing a positive in others is a invariably a great trait, useful as a way of life.
Anish saw that it’s a good strategy of life to develop interest in what is good, necessary and useful for common interest. For example he saw that developing medical awareness gives strength to develop a relationship with doctors in various fields. He saw that family as an integral way gels together and grows in emotional wellbeing by supportive interests in each other. He saw that having intermittent breaks from business and go for tours and travels renews and refreshes. He saw that having a great circle of friends, with or without common interest, build a strong and healthy environment in which all of us thrive.
Anish followed all this. He maintained a very good relationship with Mona's mother and family, Nisha's family, with Amit and with all those he is closely related to . As a result i am seeing that Anish is able to de-stress himself repeatedly. Additionally, his new found regularity in Yoga is helping him a lot. Anish is also kind, considerate, loving and a dependable source for those who know him.
I am proud of Anish and the way he has found his own way and philosophy of living, in great love with his family.
I have known Avinash Sharma since his childhood, as he happens to be my daughter's son. I remember, right from early childhood we have liked each other. I saw future in him whereas he saw a teacher and a guide in me. He saw my reflection in his mother Nisha, who followed the teachings of the Humanist Movement practically in daily life. So he also saw his mother as a reference.
Avinash says, the period until he did his matriculation was governed by his drives and instincts, not necessarily by what is good for his life. In that, he generally followed the trend that was prevailing among youth of his age. He was no longer told by tradition and values about what he should do, nor he was knowing what basically he wishes to do. Largely he followed what other people do or what other people wished him to do. There was no independent thinking of his own.
It was during his college days of pursuing graduation, he increasingly became conscious that the life needs to have a direction. He felt that external pursuit of goals are necessary in life, but balance in life is created only when internally he begins to understand how to transform himself from being static to dynamic, from being stagnant to moving towards energy.
It was at the point that he came in touch with me seriously. I introduced him to various methods of SOIL (School of Internal Literacy) in increasing the energy, circulating it, directing and focusing it where one wants.
Avinash, by nature, is honest truthful, grasping and implementing man. He liked the sensation that these practices created in terms of feeling and movement of breath, in experiencing the energy flow and consequent sensation of blood flow in the parts he concentrated upon. He liked the Soil's approach of the system of moving from complexity of energy flow to the simplicity of its realization. More or less, these methods found their practical application in daily life, during discussions at family level, during work, and during association with his friends.
Avinash recalls the core understanding of Soil which said, mental states are governed by the balance or imbalance of energy flow, not merely by process of thinking. Remembering this, he was able to overcome his low periods of life, which are common with most young people, by boosting and balancing his energy through breathing, stretching and visualizing the bright future. Avinash learnt well the Principles of Energization, Principles of Breathing, Principles of Energy Loss(Entropy and ageing), Principles of Image and its influence on daily life. All these principles are mentioned here as a separate text.
Avinash says he was largely influenced by the tenets let down by Silo that said, "Image precedes action". Therefore as large or small is one's image, so is the size of his action. He learnt the whole characteristic of the imaging system as illustrated practically by Silo in his book "Guided Experiences". He learnt from me the tenets of images which are mentioned in a separate page here.
Avinash basically is studious and intelligent. With great perseverance and attention he completed his CFA. He is also a sports person, deeply interested in playing football, interested in cricket, gymnasium and fitness. Therefore discipline, regularity and adherence to what is of value in life, family or in work, go together with him as a character.
Avinash is a deeply thinking man. He is quiet, tolerant and contemplative. He says, basically he is convinced that acquiring skill to master the images, mastering the whole system of visualization as also exercises to move, circulate and focus energy are the basis of personal development.
He understands that meaning of life lies in learning from experiencing and in giving to the society the essence of what he has gained. He considers this as a humanist approach to life.
Avinash says, it was very interesting experience to learn that energy can be increased in the body and mind, it can be transferred to any organ, it can be balanced focused and it can be expanded through breathing, stretching and visualization.
In this moment he uses these techniques during his daily train travel, during his work and in those moments he feels low, in order to regain his normalcy. However he is keen to set apart exclusive daily sessions to work on images, visualization and energization. He is conscious in creating an attitude to spread goodness harmony and development to others.
Talking about a particular aspect of his character building, he told me that he is gradually able to form an image of what he is and what he is not. That image of what he wants to be, guides him to reject and not to associate with anything that does not tally with that image he has built for himself. That is his guide, his internal reference, for what is valid for him to adopt and accept in life.
Living constantly with Avinash has been a great pleasure. He has great respect for my wife Lina with whom he unfailingly participates in what is encouraging in life.
Eduardo Santos met me in the year 2004 in India. The fact is that Eduardo came later into my personal life but he first appeared as a milestone in the life of our group of companies. He came as our connective link to the resources in the world so that we could collaborate, construct and live on with the collaborators as business partners. What struck me about Eduardo was his transparent and friendly cordiality, flow of communication and openness to understand what i wanted.
There hangs quite a story of our togetherness to the extent that we became personal friends. I wanted to know more about what made Eduardo what he is, and what was behind his universality of character. So i took his permission to dwell into his life history, as a story of networking of relationships in life.
Eduardo told me that at the age of 5, his grandmother used to tell things to him with a clear-cut honesty that what she told were lies. Eduardo says, right at that time, he developed irreverence and disrespect for lies, as a way of communication. So, from the age of 5, it inherently went into his consciousness that a good way of life is one that is not based on lies. This was an important conviction at a very early age.
As he grew further in his life, as a contrasting background of his childhood revelation, it went on becoming clear that a good way of life is based on being honest, transparent and basically truthful. These three aspects formed a direction, guideline and a way of life.
Eduardo graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Uruguay, the country of his origin. Teaching mathematics in Uruguay became his early professional career. However his main interest, up to age of 23, was football. Football remained as an early source of income but Eduardo says, living only to earn money was not central to his life, since he was well provided by his family. His guiding principle in life was to do what he "liked most".
Shift to Italy, from Uruguay, brought him in contact with Stark as the Area Manager. Since its founder Antonio trusted him as his guide for connectivity with the world, he became his confidant. Upon passing away of Antonio, he thought it fit to leave the next generation of Stark owners free to work their own way. But he was concerned with the interests of the customers he had developed in India, Argentina, Middle East, North Africa, Spain, Portugal, Turkey etc., while being in Stark as an area manager.
Upon leaving Stark, a new world of opportunities opened before Eduardo. The restrictions imposed by a singular product line, a single company and a country gave way to openness to the new products, peoples, cultures and host of new countries. The visits to trade shows and exhibitions held around the world opened the doors for new connectivity among diverse countries, cultures, peoples and products. When i asked Eduardo what is the new mindset that is appropriate for dealing with such diverse landscape, he said that international business is challenging but the main clue lies in allowing space and acceptance of differences in ways of doing business for each country. The point of view is to find congruence, adaptation and growing togetherness. He says his comprehension of the world view has paved ways to collaborations among partners of very different sorts.
Tooling's Private Limited
Eduardo left Stark around May 2008 after 12 years but his relationship with the owners of Stark has continued very cordially until this day. However, the freedom of vision it opened brought him closer to Matrix in Italy, the makers of Turret punching tools. Eduardo was mainly instrumental in bringing Matrix to India to have a joint collaboration with Total Tools to create manufacturing facility in Pune. That facility is today known as MTS.
It was during same period that he had two brief but very cordial meetings with Eugenio of Euromac, Italy, the makers of Turret Punching Presses. It is an evidence of the trustworthiness of Eduardo that Eugenio decided to open up Euromac India with Total Tools just after two meetings between them in Italy. Today, 2017, Euromac India is on its way to establish itself with selling and servicing.
Eduardo thinks that he sees a great future in bringing China to work together with India and South America. he says, China has great infrastructure, speed and freedom to do what one likes. As an evolution, Eduardo's vision is changing from selling of products to creation of companies, and formulation of business models. In his view, bringing about Synergy by way of co-operation between two or more organizations and their facilities produce a combined effect that is greater than sum of their separate effects.
According to Eduardo, this way of working has a distinct advantage. It creates conditions for coming together and basically creates richness for all who are involved. Eduardo says that the conducting thread for such way of working is to be transparent, without prejudice, with no strong likes and dislikes. This is because the world is made up of multiplicity, variety and apparent differences of cultures and languages. However the spirit of coming together transcends all of them.
Eudardo realizes that digitization has been essential part of the third industrial revolution but the world is moving towards the fourth industrial revolution which consists of robotics, Internet of things, nano technology and an importance of distributions, logistics and concept of flow. His future would soon be centered around the concepts of the fourth industrial revolution which is just beginning.
Working for years with Eduardo has been a revealing experience for me. I did not find him to be a hard core negotiator in business where money and profits are in center. I found him to be a bridge between peoples and cultures. I have never found that he imposed any idea or a deal on anyone. He left, all who were involved, free to take their own decisions. I discovered that what always worked was his "presence". All who are involved confide in him, what is crucial to them. Eduardo is a "rich" man.
He feels fulfilled in life even without possessions.
Nilay Dalal,
For decades we have been a family, deeply rooted in business. Business runs almost into our veins. To think that anyone of us in the family would pursue something other than businesss is hard to imagine. Everyone gets eventually trained to be absorbed in one's family business or starts his own business.
Priyakant Dalal's family has traditionally been a stock brokers of repute known as Dalal and Broacha. Nailesh Dalal and Vipul Dalal inherited this business and expanded it further. Nilay Dalal is the second son, after Hriday Dalal, of Nailesh and Smruti Dalal.
Nilay Says that he has been interested in sports since early childhood. Being competitive is in his nature. He says, after he got married, the idea of remaining in good shape became his obsession. Marathon / Trialithon first attaracted him though no one around him had done this before. However Nilay says, he chanced to read a book "Dare to Run" by Amit Sheth. The book inspired him because the author was known to his family. The story of Amit Sheth perseverance of marathon amazed, motivated and reassured him that anyone can do a marathon, it is "mind over matter".
Nilay says that engagement with sports activities has become a part of his life style. He says he is fortunate to find a life partner, in his wife Darshita who has also taken up to this sports of marathon running. We keep motivating each other.
Hriday
Vipul
Nilay feels privileged and blessed that he is not only born in a well-to-do family but is fully supported by his uncle Vipul and elder brother Hriday. Nilay particularly mentions that they always took care of his role and responsibilities in business so that he can pursue his passion in sports. His parents Nailesh, in particular his mother Smruti, have always inspired him since childhood to pursue sports in various forms. He takes a learning from what Parimal Merchant said, "Resources that exist outside the organisation have significant influence on its growth and survival".
Some years back Nilay took to running endurance races especially triathlons. A triathlon is an endurance race with 3 disciplines of swimming, cycling and running (in that order).
In the past 3 years Nilay ran about 10 triathlons and lot of marathons at local and international level.
Local Events:-
1. Hyderabad Triathlon (2014, 2015)
2. Goa Triathlon (2015, 2016)
3. Pune Triathlon (2016)
4. Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (2016)
International events:-
1. Ironman 70.3 Budapest, 2015
2. Ironman 70.3 Barcelona, 2016
3. Ironman 70.3 Phuket, 2016
Note:An Ironman 70.3 race comprises 1.9 KM swimming, 90.1 KM cycling, 21.1 KM running.
Currently his ranked 2nd in the country in age category (Male 30-34) as per 2016 Ironman 70.3 results.
When asked, how he would like to contribute to society, he says he has a great desire to share his knowledge, motivation and expertise with others by creating a particular envirnoment and a platform around him. He feels that this endeavour will give great meaning to his life.
I have personally always admired Nilay's perseverance, enthusiasm and singlemindedness. He is largely a less speaking man, more focused on working out his passion. In the family, Nilay is, at this moment, the only extraordinary sports talent and stands out. It is quite a departure from the traditional family business. I feel very proud of him, as his whole family is very dear to my heart.
NISHA, YOU ARE A WONDER IN OUR LIFE:
PAPA AND MOM
02.02.2019
Dear Nisha
For me living together through thick and thin of life for as long 56 years is a measure of understanding what really matters in life in being together, come what may
The long durability in relationship is not possible without love between two people that is above romance. It is a solid practice of being responsible, being caring and of building the future of life as a strategy
In a married relationship, how each partner grows his/her individuality, interests and careers comes from respect for each others freedom to choose without conflict, bear the inconveniences and attain personal development.
This speaks of an enlightened philosophy of life in which a married couple lives without bondages of male/ female domination, bondages of cultures and environment.
From all above considerations me and Lina have lived admirably well, contributed to each members 4/9 individual freedom and taking responsibility of his/ her growth upto a level from where it is for him/her to grow further. Strong love between us, that includes and exceeds romance, has made this possible.
We respect tremendously your love, your role, your support and understanding that have made our lives happy and joyfully liveable. For all that you have been, we a. 4/9 indebted to you for this entire life.
